First, send cash. Don’t send clothing or food; there is little infrastructure in place to transport or distribute it.

If you work for a company, your employer may match any contributions you make. Some employers are matching on a 4:1 basis. Check with your Human Resources office.

Don’t go to the area as a free-lance volunteer. If you are interested in volunteering directly, offer your services to one of the organizations listed below.

The Red Cross, which made some mistakes during 9/11, seems to be doing a good job now. Cash contributions to the Red Cross are immediately turned into debit cards and given to hurricane victims to buy the things they need.

Wow, I had to put this on here.

THIS WILL REVOLUTIONIZE
THE HOME BUSINESS INDUSTRY FOREVER

Highlights of Why This will Attract Everyone We Know:

NO Fees to Participate - Why should you pay a distributor fee to sell for any company? Never pay a distributor fee to join a company ever again!

NO Forced Monthly Purchases - One of the biggest reasons people drop out is because companies force them to purchase product every month they can't afford.

One Powerful Product - SIMPLE and this is going to SELL! It's not a pill, its not a capsule, its not a liquid and... IT WORKS FAST!

Results Sell - Day one you'll feel it, day two you'll love it and day three you'll be telling your friends.

Manufacture Direct - Unlike 99% of most so-called "opportunities" who have their products made by someone else and pass high costs on to distributors, this company is the manufacturer direct, and there are no middle sales or multi-level companies.

Solid Company - A 12 year old manufacturer that has the capability of shipping over $10 million dollars worth of product a day.

Free Samples to Dealers - They will continually be giving out Free Samples for Dealers to Hand Out. Most companies simply can't afford to do this, but they make the products and understand the importance of getting people to try the product.

Low Cost - A two months supply will only cost $49. No more trying to sell your friends on buying $200 or $300 of product that they don't need.

Pays Out Checks Daily - They understand the importance of getting dealers money quick.

Distribution: The Next New Game!

Why Direct Sales and Network Marketing Will Explode in the Next Five Years!
By Mitch Axelrod

This is a wake-up call of historic proportions. The global marketplace is rapidly transforming the world economy. We are in the early stages of the Next New Game. Encourage everyone you know to get in the game, step on the field, and walk up to the plate.

You and I have lived through three economic ages: Industrial, information and service!

No prior generation has had to manage so much dramatic change in how they earn a living and pursue a livelihood as we have. We transformed from a dependent age to an independent age, and now we face the biggest adjustment of all the Age of Interdependence!

You can no longer succeed and prosper by yourself. Your team is as important as your talentor more so. If you want to fulfill more of your talent in less time, surround yourself with the best players you can find.

Leverage is its name, and networking is the game. When you play the New Game of network marketing you maximize both.

Luther Vandross, R&B crooner deluxe, dead at 54

5:29 p.m. July 1, 2005

Luther Vandross performs at the 29th annual American Music Awards in Los Angeles in this 2002 file photo.
NEW YORK – Grammy award winner Luther Vandross, whose deep, lush voice on such hits as "Here and Now" and "Any Love" sold more than 25 million albums while providing the romantic backdrop for millions of couples worldwide, died Friday. He was 54.
Vandross died at John F. Kennedy Medical Center in Edison, N.J., said hospital spokesman Rob Cavanaugh. He did not release the cause of death but said in a statement that Vandross "never really recovered from" a stroke two years ago.

Since the stroke in his Manhattan home on April 16, 2003, the R&B crooner stopped making public appearances – but amazingly managed to continue his recording career. In 2004, he captured four Grammys as a sentimental favorite, including best song for the bittersweet "Dance With My Father."

Here is a great article on the tax benefits of your own Home Based Business

"Mike earns $50,000 in a job with the government. If he starts a home-based business that generates a tax loss of 10,000, he only pays tax on $40,000.

Renegade Tip: You can never lose a properly documented business deduction as long as you run your legitimate business like a business with a bona fide business purpose and have an honest expectation of profit. Make also sure that all your expenses are ordinary and necessary and reasonable as noted in our Tax Advantage and Tax Strategy Program.

Renegade Strategy: Get LUCK-Labor Under Correct Knowledge.

Can You Succeed In a Home-Based Business?

Research has constantly shown that it is rarely the business that determines success or failure. It is usually the business owner. Why does one person succeed and another fail at the same business?

Two words-Knowledge and Action.

Some people want the benefits of having their own business, but they don't take action. The result is business failure.

Then there are the people who are always working. They take action but still fail. The reason is that they are not taking the correct actions, the knowledgeable actions, that will bring the desired results. Again, business failure.

It's like drilling for oil. If you set up a drilling rig in your back yard, it is going to fail at producing oil unless your back yard is in Texas or Alaska. The same rig in a good field will produce a gusher, because it was placed where oil was known to exist.

The point is that most people who get excited about starting their own home-based business do so without all the necessary knowledge. Consequently, many people quit before they acquire, through experience, the knowledge they need, without realizing that they are getting substantial tax breaks. This leads to another strategy....

Renegade Strategy: Learn to duplicate the success of others.

Duplicating the strategy of others is much quicker and more effective than going to the school of hard knocks.

It is also known as modeling, which is well-illustrated by the way The McDonalds Corporation blazed a trail to success that many have since followed.

In the early 1950's McDonald's and other start-up companies discovered that they could grow many times faster than the conventional firms through franchising. Instead of the company investing millions of dollars to build new stores, they let independent franchises do it for them.

It seemed like a great idea, but at first no one figured out how to make it succeed on a consistent basis; therefore, the media attacked relentlessly and continually. News articles featured destitute families who had lost their life savings through franchising schemes. Virtually every state attorney general in the U.S. condemned the new marketing method. Some congressmen even tried to outlaw franchising entirely.

Over the years, however, Ray Kroc and his management team at McDonald's developed a turnkey franchise business team at McDonald's franchise. The newfound success-from the system-turned public perception of franchising around. Today, virtually every franchise business models-to some extent-the franchise business system created by McDonald's, making franchising one of the most respected ways of doing business in the world.

Modeling is simply learning what other successful people have done to achieve success in a specific area, and then doing the same thing. Someone said that "education is the shortcut to experience." With modeling, you literally leverage your own learning with the collective years of learning through experience of many others. Modeling the success of others saves both time and money and reduces frustration and stress.

The light at the end of the tunnel, for you and millions of others today, is the financial opportunity that starting your own business offers. If you have one going already, then make sure you are enjoying the many financial advantages to which your smart choice entitles you. The tax advantage alone can make a home-based business the single best financial move you could ever make."

7 Spiritual Laws of Success

Meaning and Definition.
1. The Law of Pure Potentiality

The source of all creation is pure consciousness... pure potentiality seeking expression from the un-manifest to the manifest. When we realize that our true self is one of pure potentiality, we align with the power that manifests everything in the universe.

2. The Law of Giving

The universe operates through dynamic exchange.... giving and receiving are different aspects of the flow of energy in the universe. And in our willingness to give that which we seek, we keep the abundance of the universe circulating in our lives.

3. The Law of Cause and Effect

Every action generates a force of energy that returns to us in like kind.... what we sow is what we reap. And when we choose actions that bring happiness and success to others, the fruit of our action is happiness and success.

4. The law of Least Effort

Nature's intelligence functions with effortless ease.... with carefreeness, harmony, and love. When we harness the forces of harmony, joy, and love, we create success and good fortune with effortless ease.

5. The Law of Intention and Desire

Inherent in every intention and desire is the mechanics for its fulfillment... intention and desire in the field of pure potentiality have infinite power. When we introduce an intention in the fertile ground of pure potentiality, we put this infinite organizing power to work for us.

6. The Law of Detachment

In detachment lies the wisdom of uncertainty..... in the wisdom of uncertainty lies the freedom from our past, from the known, which is the prison of past conditioning. in our willingness to step into the unknown, the field of all possibilities, we surrender ourselves to the creative mind that orchestrates the dance of the universe.

7. The Law of Purpose in Life

Everyone has a purpose in life... a unique gift or special talent to give to others. When we blend this unique talent with service to others, we experience the ecstasy and exultation of our own spirit, which is the ultimate goal of all goals.

It's been said, "The purpose of life is to live a life of purpose."

What's your purpose? I love hearing from people that find this page. You may actually be here for a reason! Who knows?

Your Ultimate Objective in MLM Recruiting

By Doug Firebaugh

If you've been in this business for any length of time,
I bet you have heard a lot of recruiting trainings...
and there are some incredible teachers and trainers
out there to help out.

But I think that in order to put all of the techniques
and tactics out there being espoused into perspective...
(and yes, I am an espousee... is that a word???... smile...)
it would really make a lot of sense to know what your
Ultimate Objective is in Network Marketing... agree?

I sent out over 700 emails asking a single question...

"What is the Ultimate Objective in MLM recruiting?"...
and they went out over a period of 4 months. We got
a lot of response... and some was amazingly off base
in it's answers...

Here is the breakdown as close as we could get it...
37% said that the Ultimate objective was to get a paycheck...
26% said that it was build a downline....
22% said it was to create financial security...
8% said it was to help people (Great Answer!)

And the rest fell in differing answers...

Now folks... 63% said that the Ultimate Objective was
to either get a paycheck or build a downline... those are
2 VERY obvious results, but they are results of reaching
your objective...

Not the objective itself...

When I was starting, my team got off to a blazing fast
start and a blazing fast crash... because we lost sight
of our Ultimate Objective...

I had the honor of working with some folks in Canada,
and one person in particular; I'll call him Frank, was doing
all the right things, but was not getting the results he wanted...

Why?

He had lost sight of the Ultimate Objective of recruiting...

And when he finally "Got It," his business exploded...

The same thing happened out in Colorado Springs...
I'll call him "Dick"... He was struggling for the longest time,
but when he saw and "Got It," and focused on the Ultimate
objective, his business exploded. Now he earns a 6-figure
income. I am so proud of his success... he truly deserves it...

Whenever you do trainings or writings, some folks will "Get It,"
others take some time and still some others never get it...
just the way the ball bounces...

But for those who are ready to "Get It" and explode your
business with a little paradigm shift, you have come to the
right place...

I have seen businesses literally explode in 90 days once
this Ultimate Objective was understood and internalized
then duplicated... and your business can, too...

So what is the Ultimate Objective of MLM Recruiting?

Collecting Decisions

Not getting a paycheck, or building a downline...
Collecting decisions...

Why?

You can prospect, approach, present, follow up and follow
up some more... but if you do not collect the decision from
people, you will be a nice person doing a lot of work and
making NO money.

If you don't FINISH what you started, you will never create
a finish worth having...

Collecting Decisions is where you make your money...
and doesn't matter if it's a yes or no; you make money
with every decision...

If they say yes, you make a commission and override on
your downline... (Result)... but if you get a No...

Great!!!!

You still have gotten paid by sharpening your skills
with that person... and remember...

Paychecks are temporary... skills are permanent...

The REAL value in this business is in the permanence...
ask any Networker Millionaire...

If you sharpen your skills to Razor Sharp... you can go anywhere
in the world, and make a fortune with this Industry...
now THAT is security!!!

So I have one question...

How many decisions did YOU collect today?

Your Ultimate Objective is to collect a LOT of decisions...

As my friend Jeff Roberti (50 Million dollar earner in this industry) says...

"I was no different from anybody else when I started except for one thing...
I went out to collect a million dollars worth of No's..."

That is called a HUGE CLUE!!!!!!!!!!

Blessings...

A Millionaire's Secret

-by Allen Says

Washington DC was nasty as could be. As I sat on the bench
waiting for my bus to arrive I couldn't wait to get back to
the backwoods of Louisiana. I had almost sat in a pool of
blood that was on the far end of the bench and I was ready
to go. I truly hope people coming to visit our country don't
make DC one of their stops.

Anyway, before my bus arrived I was approached by a nicely
dressed elderly gentleman in need of directions. I told him I
had no idea what he was looking for as I too was just passing
through. To this day I'm not sure why, but we started talking
as if we had known each other for years.

We talked about life, people and eventually the conversation
turned to business. It was here that the gentlemen saw something
in me, I suppose, that made him feel like sharing what he said
was the greatest secret ever told. He said everyone had heard it
but almost no one paid any attention to it, even though it was
the one thing that could bestow a fortune upon any man or woman
who used it.

My ears where definitely starting to perk up. Something about his
tone told me this man knew from whereof he spoke. And I wanted to
know what the secret was with a passion. He must have sensed my
anxiousness because at that very moment he gave me a warning that
was almost a scolding.

I'll try to recount here as best I can the rest of our
conversation...

Man: "Do not make the mistake of shrugging off what I am about to
tell you because you have heard it before. No doubt you have heard
it already from at least one person in your life. You may have even
heard it many times. Do you have any aversion to religion Mr. Says?"

Me: "No I don't. I don't believe many preachers know what they are
talking about or even what they are trying to teach, but I do know
the Bible has a lot of great knowledge in it."

Man: "Good. I would not want you to discount what I am about to tell
you because it does come directly from the Bible. But its applications
reach far beyond what most people can conceive of. It will take thought,
intense pondering on your part, to begin to get some inkling of its
power."

"This simple secret, when applied to business, will draw money to you
as easily as water runs down a mountain. Even a fool can apply it and
prosper. When applied to relationships, it will create more friends
than you can handle" (laughing heartily)

Me: "What is it, I'm dying to know now?"

Man: "Patience Mr. Says, Patience. I will not give it to you as it
has always been repeated by fools who have no respect or knowledge
of what it even means. No. I will give it to you another way."

"What type of business are you interested in?"

Me: "Well, I'm dabbling in Mail Order right now. I would like to
place ads and sell books."

Man: "Fine. Fine. Mail Order it is. Let me tell you how to create a
fortune in this Mail Order. All you have to do is create the product
you want to buy"

Me: "I don't understand"

Man: "You will"

"You see, you are your market. Whatever you want, there are millions
of other people wanting the same thing. That elusive product you are
looking for is the product millions of others are also looking for
right now."

"All you have to do is create the product you want to buy, the product
you yourself have been looking for. Once you have this product, what
would you want the sales message to say so that you know this is the
product you have been looking for?"

"If someone else where selling this product, what would you want the
ad to say, what would get you to buy this product?. When you have that
answer, that is the ad you want to create."

Me: "I see" (hesitantly)

Man: "See the business across the street here? Pizza. I could triple
the business that place does inside of 10 minutes. That's what I do
by the way" (smiling)

"All I would do is walk into the business as a customer. I would sit
there and imagine all the things that could be done to me that would
make me a loyal customer to that business for life. What could they
do for me that would make me feel this way?"

"Once I had the answers to that question, I would implement them
across the board. Every customer would be treated the way I had
imagined. And without any doubt what so ever that business would
triple the profits it now makes."

Me: "I think I know..."

Man: "Wait, you don't really know anything yet. That's the problem
with people. They brush something off because of where it came from
or because they heard it many times. Leave that for fools. You won't
"know it" until you have deeply pondered it and put it to use."

Me: "Ok"

Man: "What I am telling you has power undreamed of. The simple words
used to describe it cannot contain it. Does not do justice to it, and
has been prostituted by blabber mouths who let wisdom fall off their
lips with not even a single brain cell grasping what they are rambling
about."

"What I am telling you is Law, not man's Law, but the very Law's
of nature herself. It's the way things work and those who truly
understand it rise to the top in every field known to man."

"What people don't understand is that it applies to everything.
This secret can be applied with virtually every step you take,
everything you do, every word you speak and everyone concerned
profits by it."

"If you are a writer, write like you would like to be written to"

"If you are a salesman, sell like you would like to be sold to"

"If you are a speaker, speak like you would like to be spoken to"

"If you want more love, then love like you would like
to be loved"

"If you want more friends, be the friend you would like
to see"

"When you infuse everything you do with this secret it takes on
a magical power. Businesses dominate the market, books become
best sellers, leaders attract huge and loyal followings."

"How would you like it?"
"How would you respond to it?"
"How would it make you feel?"

"Those are great questions to think about every time you do or
create something. You will get into the hearts and minds of everyone
who comes under your influence if you will first think how you would
have it done to you."

"I'm certain you already know the quote from the Bible I'm referring
to. But don't repeat it, just ponder it and pratice it."

Me: "I do. But I've never thought of how it could actually apply
to everything in life. I too was one of those fools who passed it
over without so much as a second thought. I really want to thank
you for sharing this with me."

Man: "It's been a real pleasure talking with you
Mr. Says, have a safe journey home."

And with that, he was gone. The funny thing was, as I was riding
home on the bus I realized I never got his name, nor do I remember
ever giving him mine. Maybe he saw my luggage tag. I'm not sure. It
really doesn't matter. What does matter is that I've profited from
that advice for the last 15 years.

I'm not even really any good at it either and I've still pulled in
huge amounts of money. Especially from the Internet. This is one place
this knowledge can really shine. People have always asked me my secret.
How come the Warriors is still here, with the same products, with all
this competition, after all these years?

This one simple secret is the answer. I always ask myself how would
I like to be treated by this company? What would I like to see? What
would I like to get? How would I like to be dealt with?

Those simple questions are all you have to answer. When you do get
the answers, put them into action and watch what happens.

The Daffodil Principle

Several times my daughter had telephoned to say, "Mother, you must come and see the daffodils before they are over." I wanted to go, but it was a two-hour drive from Laguna to Lake Arrowhead. Going and coming took most of a day - and I honestly did not have a free day until the following week."I will come next Tuesday," I promised, a little reluctantly, on her third call. Next Tuesday dawned cold and rainy. Still, I had promised, and so I drove the length of Route 91, continued on I-215, and finally turned onto Route 18 and began to drive up the mountain highway. The tops of the mountains were sheathed in clouds, and I had gone only a few miles when the road was completely covered with a wet, gray blanket of fog. I slowed to a crawl, my heart pounding. The road becomes narrow and winding toward the top of the mountain.

As I executed the hazardous turns at a snail's pace, I was praying to reach the turnoff at Blue Jay that would signify I had arrived. When I finally walked into Carolyn's house and hugged and greeted my grandchildren I said, "Forget the daffodils, Carolyn! The road is invisible in the clouds and fog, and there is nothing in the world except you and these darling children that I want to see bad enough to drive another inch!"My daughter smiled calmly, "We drive in this all the time, Mother.""Well, you won't get me back on the road until it clears - and then I'm heading for home!" I assured her."I was hoping you'd take me over to the garage to pick up my car. The mechanic just called, and they've finished repairing the engine," she answered."How far will we have to drive?" I asked cautiously."Just a few blocks,"Carolyn said cheerfully.

So we buckled up the children and went out to my car. "I'll drive," Carolyn offered. "I'm used to this." We got into the car, and she began driving. In a few minutes I was aware that we were back on the Rim-of-the-World Road heading over the top of the mountain. "Where are we going?" I exclaimed, distressed to be back on the mountain road in the fog. "This isn't the way to the garage!""We're going to my garage the long way," Carolyn smiled, "by way of the daffodils.""Carolyn, I said sternly, trying to sound as if I was still the mother and in charge of the situation, "please turn around. There is nothing in the world that I want to see enough to drive on this road in this weather.""It's all right, Mother," She replied with a knowing grin. "I know what I'm doing. I promise, you will never forgive yourself if you miss this experience."And so my sweet, darling daughter who had never given me a minute of difficulty in her whole life was suddenly in charge - and she was kidnapping me! I couldn't believe it. Like it or not, I was on the way to see some ridiculous daffodils - driving through the thick, gray silence of the mist-wrapped mountaintop at what I thought was risk to life and limb.I muttered all the way. After about twenty minutes we turned onto a small gravel road that branched down into an oak-filled hollow on the side of the mountain. The fog had lifted a little, but the sky was lowering, gray and heavy with clouds. We parked in a small parking lot adjoining a little stone church.

From our vantage point at the top of the mountain we could see beyond us, in the mist, the crests of the San Bernardino range like the dark, humped backs of a herd of elephants. Far below us the fog-shrouded valleys, hills, and flatlands stretched away to the desert. On the far side of the church I saw a pine-needle-covered path, with towering evergreens and manzanita bushes and an inconspicuous, lettered sign "Daffodil Garden."We each took a child's hand, and I followed Carolyn down the path as it wound through the trees. The mountain sloped away from the side of the path in irregular dips, folds, and valleys, like a deeply creased skirt.Live oaks, mountain laurel, shrubs, and bushes clustered in the folds, and in the gray, drizzling air, the green foliage looked dark and monochromatic. I shivered. Then we turned a corner of the path, and I looked up and gasped. Before me lay the most glorious sight, unexpectedly and completely splendid. It looked as though someone had taken a great vat of gold and poured it down over the mountain peak and slopes where it had run into every crevice and over every rise. Even in the mist-filled air, the mountainside was radiant, clothed in massive drifts and waterfalls of daffodils.

The flowers were planted in majestic, swirling patterns, great ribbons and swaths of deep orange, white, lemon yellow, salmon pink, saffron, and butter yellow. Each different-colored variety (I learned later that there were more than thirty-five varieties of daffodils in the vast display) was planted as a group so that it swirled and flowed like its own river with its own unique hue.In the center of this incredible and dazzling display of gold, a great cascade of purple grape hyacinth flowed down like a waterfall of blossoms framed in its own rock-lined basin, weaving through the brilliant daffodils.

A charming path wound throughout the garden. There were several resting stations, paved with stone and furnished with Victorian wooden benches and great tubs of coral and carmine tulips. As though this were not magnificent enough, Mother Nature had to add her own grace note - above the daffodils, a bevy of western bluebirds flitted and darted, flashing their brilliance. These charming little birds are the color of sapphires with breasts of magenta red. As they dance in the air, their colors are truly like jewels above the blowing, glowing daffodils. The effect was spectacular. It did not matter that the sun was not shining. The brilliance of the daffodils was like the glow of the brightest sunlit day. Words, wonderful as they are, simply cannot describe the incredible beauty of that flower-bedecked mountain top.Five acres of flowers! (This too I discovered later when some of my questions were answered.) "But who has done this?" I asked Carolyn. I was overflowing with gratitude that she brought me - even against my will. This was a once-in-a-lifetime experience."Who?" I asked again, almost speechless with wonder, "And how, and why, and when?""It's just one woman," Carolyn answered. "She lives on the property. That's her home." Carolyn pointed to a well-kept A-frame house that looked small and modest in the midst of all that glory. We walked up to the house, my mind buzzing with questions.

On the patio we saw a poster. "Answers to the Questions I Know You Are Asking" was the headline. The first answer was a simple one. "50,000 bulbs," it read. The second answer was, "One at a time, by one woman, two hands, two feet, and very little brain." The third answer was, "Began in 1958."There it was. The Daffodil Principle. For me that moment was a life-changing experience. I thought of this woman whom I had never met, who, more than thirty-five years before, had begun - one bulb at a time - to bring her vision of beauty and joy to an obscure mountain top. One bulb at a time. There was no other way to do it. One bulb at a time. No shortcuts - simply loving the slow process of planting. Loving the work as it unfolded.Loving an achievement that grew so slowly and that bloomed for only three weeks of each year. Still, just planting one bulb at a time, year after year, had changed the world.

This unknown woman had forever changed the world in which she lived. She had created something of ineffable magnificence, beauty, and inspiration. The principle her daffodil garden taught is one of the greatest principle of celebration: learning to move toward our goals and desires one step at a time - often just one baby-step at a time - learning to love the doing, learning to use the accumulation of time. When we multiply tiny pieces of time with small increments of daily effort, we too will find we can accomplish magnificent things. We can change the world."Carolyn," I said that morning on the top of the mountain as we left the haven of daffodils, our minds and hearts still bathed and bemused by the splendors we had seen, "it's as though that remarkable woman has needle-pointed the earth! Decorated it. Just think of it, she planted every single bulb for more than thirty years. One bulb at a time! And that's the only way this garden could be created. Every individual bulb had to be planted. There was no way of short-circuiting that process. Five acres of blooms. That magnificent cascade of hyacinth! All, just one bulb at a time.

"The thought of it filled my mind. I was suddenly overwhelmed with the implications of what I had seen. "It makes me sad in a way," I admitted to Carolyn. "What might I have accomplished if I had thought of a wonderful goal thirty-five years ago and had worked away at it 'one bulb at a time' through all those years. Just think what I might have been able to achieve!"My wise daughter put the car into gear and summed up the message of the day in her direct way. "Start tomorrow," she said with the same knowing smile she had worn for most of the morning. Oh, profound wisdom! It is pointless to think of the lost hours of yesterdays. The way to make learning a lesson a celebration instead of a cause for regret is to only ask, "How can I put this to use tomorrow?"

The only thing that stands between a man and what he wants from life is often merely the will to try it and the faith to believe that it is possible."

HERBAL STRESS BUSTER

HERBAL STRESS BUSTER (a summary of the article):
The article opens with the story of a young Russian soldier under stress - stress he manages with an herbal tea from his mom. As a "side effect", he experienced additional mental and physical energy. This tea was "made from the golden-yellow roots of a Siberian plant called Rhodiola rosea."

Anne Underwood (the author) points out that some plant physiologists and other natural products companies are now producing products made from Rhodiola rosea extract. She goes on to say that Rhodiola is beginning to create a buzz in this country (USA) and that the plant has been used for centuries in Russia, Scandinavia and Iceland noting that "Even the Vikings used it for endurance." The Russians began intense research in the 1960s - in part to maximize Olympic performance of their athletes. She even says: "It has everything to become an herbal superstar - a high-safety profile, compelling benefits and a reasonable amount of scientific research."

The article goes on to summarize some of the research featuring Rhodiola's positive impact on students during exams, physicians on night call, and cadets pulling night duty. Dr. Richard Brown of Columbia University (who used it with 300 patients) says, "When you see how it works (referring to its impact on cortisol, brain chemicals and ATP), the effects make sense. It has no side effects that we've noticed, only side benefits."

The article points out that the quality of the product is critical and that you should look for Rhodiola rosea, not Rodiola sacra or any other species. It also notes that a one-month supply of "rhodiola only" could cost between $20-$50.

Ms. Underwood closed the article with a quote from Liz Sterling, a radio host from Boca Raton, Fla. After taking a Rhodiola rosea product for two months Liz said, "It's as if my shoulders have lowered, and stress just rolls off."

Chapter 15 of 'Today Is Your Day To Win'

There's A Clown In All Of Us

----------------------------------
Today's Empowering Quote

"Make one person happy each day, and in forty years
you will have made 14,600 human beings happy for a
little time, at least."
-Charley Willey

Today's Empowering Question
----------------------------------

"Who can I make smile right now?"

----------------------------------
Today's Fast Session
----------------------------------

A couple days ago, I called my wife at work. One of her
co-workers answered the phone. Now, I like to clown
around...a lot.

Do you remember those guys who did the Budweiser
commercials that asked each other, "Wazzuuup?" Well,
remember the other Bud commercial with the "uncool" guys
who ask, "What are you doing?" in the nerdiest way possible?

Well, the woman who picked up the phone, I've only met
once for about 5 minutes. After she said hello, I didn't
identify myself at all. I just said, "What are you
DOING?!" in the uncool way. She said, "Who is this?"
Again I asked, "What are YOU doing?!"

All I heard was hysterical laughing and another woman in
the background saying, "Is that Mike?"

Later, my wife told me that my "victim" was talking about
it throughout the day... about how funny it was.

Now, I know it was only silliness, even mindless. But
don't we all need a little of that in our days? Oh, a lot?
I'm for that.

I remember in my book store, if a customer asked for a
specific book, and if I was close enough to it, I would do
a little soft shoe (with fake top hat and cane) over to the
shelf it was on, grab it and dance back over to the
customer, presenting it to them with a bow.

That used to floor people!

I had the biggest business of its kind in the world at the
time. And I think that giving people a little humor and
entertainment was part of it.

Hey, like it or not, we are all 'state' inducers.

Whenever we have an interaction with someone, even if it's
just a hello, we leave them with a definite feeling.

What do you think people feel about us when we're walking
around with a sour puss on?

No one wants to be around that.

Do you?

Do you go out and search for the complainers? If you do,
notice the topic of your typical conversations. Are they
usually centered on what's wrong, who said what rotten
thing, what someone had the gall to ask you to do? In
short, whining sessions?

Look, you are what you think. You get back what you put
out. If you put out cheerfulness, then that's how people
will treat you back.

Did you ever hear the centuries-old story about the old
man who sat next to the road and greeted people who entered
and exited just outside his small village?

When travelers came in, often they would ask what kind of
people were in the town. The man responded by asking them
what the people were like in the town they just left. If
the traveler said the people were terrific, the man told
them that he'd find the people in this town were much the
same.

If the traveler said the other town had horrible people in
it, the man said that they'd find the people here much the
same.

It kind of goes right along with another Your Day To Win
that talked about running from your problems. The thing
is, you bring yourself with you wherever you go. And since
you are what you think, the only way for you to escape your
problems is to change your attitudes.

If you understand that you induce states of mind in the
people that you meet all day, it brings it right to the
front of your consciousness, doesn't it? People respond to
you whether you like it or not.

To my way of thinking, it's better to bring a smile than a
frown or pity or disdain. Better than nothing either.
What the heck! It doesn't cost anything at all.

Just one person a day that you make smile will do
something amazing for them and...

...inside of you.

Try this easy exercise. I think you'll find it shocking.

Smile for 60 seconds straight. Just sit there and smile.
Don't do anything else. Take the next minute. C'mon, you
have another minute! Just sit and smile for one minute.

I'll wait...

Isn't it amazing?!

Don't you immediately sense an actual physical feeling
inside you the very second you start to smile? You did,
huh? Another thing you'll notice is, you can't do this
exercise without getting all kinds of great pictures in
your head, remembering fun times, etc.

The physiology of this is quite extraordinary. It's wired
into us. When we smile, we are literally programmed to
feel good.

If you thought that you had to first feel great to smile,
you couldn't be more mistaken. Smile first and you'll feel
great.

It's impossible to feel down when we are smiling. If
you're still doubting it, try it. Just try to get into a
rotten mood with a big dumb silly grin on your face.

You literally can't do it.

Now imagine what you'll be doing for other people if you
make it your mission to make at least one person smile per
day. The feelings that you're feeling right now as you're
sitting there grinning is exactly what you'll be doing for
everyone that you make smile...

It's kind of nice to think that you can do that for people
any time you want, isn't it?

And another question... what will those people think of you?

If you're up to the assignment, go make 'em smile!

Do it everyday and your life will change.
